  1. Hey Lyndon, Thank you for ‘flagging’ the tattered US flag at the Sunrise/Sonora main entrance, unsightly especially ahead of the Holiday weekend. It’s been addressed, and looks great.

  2. The ongoing landscape deterioration this Summer warrants a review and clear answers, especially with a full landscape remodel ahead. This appears beyond missed water cycles, but rather a full workflow communication breakdown. Understanding the cause and corrective plan is essential for maintaining community standards and trust.
    We have asked for it to be a topic at the September Board meeting.

  3. Grass watering amount is unequal? I’ve noticed over the years that the grass were the small spray sprinklers are die out due to lack of sufficient water. They only get watered for 5 min. twice a day. In these temps that barely gets the ground wet, let alone enough to keep grass alive. The large green belt areas get 9 min. of water twice a day with golf course sprinklers. Almost twice the water at a far higher volume than the small spray sprinklers???? At min. those spray sprinklers should be on the same amount of time as the others if not more, I would argue! Volume of water is far less than the golf course type.

  4. Per management, the turf and plant‑health issues we’re seeing appear to be technical and connected to recent PWLC staff turnover.

    A communication will be posted on the HOA website shortly with a concise summary so everyone has a clear picture of what’s happening and what steps are being taken.

    In the meantime, please send any photos of distressed plants or trees in your area by Monday, 8/24, and request that they be reviewed during the Landscape Committee Walk on Thursday, 8/27.

  5. Hi everyone – Several of us have commented on the browning grass and plant health across the property. While mowing and edging seem consistent, the turf is clearly struggling. I’ve reached out to Casey/management with photos of the current condition of grass, along with a photo comparison of a nearby community (Capri) where grass is still green and healthy – asked to clarify what is going on and the plan to address it. If you see specific plant/tree suffering, send in photo to management to address, or plant a RED FLAG, avail in the gardner’s shed!
    Email now so it can be reviewed and perhaps discussed on the next Landscape walk – Thursday 8/27 @ 7:30am meet @ 1909 Grand Bahama Drive East, join if you can.

    I agree with your views on landscaping – plants and grass are under (or unevenly) watered and stressed. Because they trim to the wood, I trim plants in my exclusive use area and do some watering. I’ve also been adding bags of soil around my unit – the gardeners have blown all the soil into the surrounding grass creating low soil level and a lip around the grass edge. The roots of shrubs are exposed and the irrigation system is visible. I’ve called it out and have been ignored.

    There is a grapefruit tree behind my building that is dying. I sent in a note and photo last week and Joann and Bobby (Victor’s replacement) came to see it. They agree that yes it’s in terrible shape, major limbs are split, all branches drooping, they’ll spray it. I asked why would it be failing now and was told it could be caused by poor pruning or using unclean tools bringing disease from another plant.

    The landscapers job is to maintain the health and beauty of the plants on the property.
    I agree that they should be held accountable and should be the one’s calling out the issues, not homeowners.

    Does anyone else have call outs?

  7. Stephen Mercurio at 1003 Saint George here. Has anyone else expressed concern regarding the declining and poor state of our grounds and landscaping? I’ve been here for 10 years now and I’ve noticed a significant decline in the turf and landscaping presentation. I’ve expressed my concern to the board and have been met with nothing of substance, as far as action is concerned. Mostly excuses and long explanations. Frankly I’m embarrassed to live here and I’m completing selling due to the decline and presentation of our property.

    Specifically I’m seeing dead, brown, and dying turf with large swaths of dirt now, where turf should be. I’m also seeing dead plants and non functional sprinklers which no one seems to address. We pay millions of dollars to the current landscape company and I don’t believe anyone is holding them accountable to their deliverables. They mow, blow, and go, and don’t do a good job with that either.

    Maybe I just have high standards…Any insight or help from the Alliance would be appreciated.
